has anyone had the opportunity to own/try these 2 lenses side by side?
looking at the canon museum site it appears that they are the same lens optically.
the black & chrome version is lighter in weight and has a 40mm filter size while the chrome has a 34 filter size.
i'm most interested in the contrast levels and if pics from these 2 look the same.
any info appreciated.

If there is any difference, then the newer lens may be slightly sharper and with a bit more contrast (improved coating).

Well, try 'em side by side and see whatcha think, Joe. I can have it in the mail to you early next week. Of course, you may not get it until Christmas...dang it.
