I picked an old FTb with one of these lenses last week, and finally got a roll of film though. This is one of my favorite lenses, especially for black and white work. The thorium in the glass elements adds a little "warmth" (yellowish tint), which doesn't seem to take much away from the pics.

What do you think?

I happened to be carrying my M6TTL with a 35mm Summaron mounted to it. I took two shots of each subject, one with the Canon, and one with the Leica, using the same aperture and shutter speeds. I haven't gotten the film back on the Leica yet, I should be able to post comparisons next week.

The Canon was a bargain, only $80 including the concave lens.

I found a 35mm f/2 FD lens also. Mine has a slight yellowish tint.

Here's a photo. The lens definitely has a different "look" to it. You can see it through the finder. You can actually "see" the radio activity in the photo below.

It also focuses very close. Under 1 foot, which means it's about 6 inches in front of the filter on the lens. Very handy.

Here's one that illustrates the close focusing distance. I focused on the eyes, which are sharp. The nose, however, is a little off. Also, the weird expression on my cat's face indicates his uncertainty about the lens getting that close. (And I failed to disclose the possible radioactivity threat.)
