Canon 35 F2.8 Screw mount.

This is an undervalued super lens, in my opinion.
You can get it with the finder and case as a set for $200-$250 or without the finder and case of $125-$175.

On my R-D1, I cycle amongst a my CV 35 2.5 PII, CV 40mm, and the Canon. When I went to Paris this spring, I took the Canon. (Well, I also took the 40mm for the speed, but I didn't use it.) In colour, I find the Canon has a kind of sixtiesish look. Buy it; you'll like it.

Appreciate the info folks. Just picked one up in EX condition from KEH for US $265 with caps case and finder. It's the only one I could find and the price didn't seem too bad plus KEH has always treated me well. Also the contrast thing doesn't bother me as I shoot B&W and scan. Question. Since my 7 doesn't have a flash shoe how do I mount the finder? And do I really need it since I have 35mm frame lines anyway? Sorry for the questions. I'm a newbie to the vintage rangefinder scene.

Hey John how are things up in MA? I'm a Boston guy hiding out in Austin and not minding the warm climate at all.. For me 28-35 is ideal for what I do so I think i'll just run on my Canon 50 1.8 and the new 35. Wider and longer will be done on a plastic digital. :0

When you decide you need a 28mm lens, that's when you replace the 7 with a 7S. Difference in price is less than the cost of an accessory coupler...

Or cheaper still, tape the frameline illuminating window on the Canon 7, and the whole frameline less viewfinder window approximates the view of a 28mm lens quite nicely.

Ahhh, so you bought that one! Good for you! 🙂 It should be a nice lens.

As to your question, you don't need to use the finder, b/c your 7 has 35mm framelines (and quite good ones, too).

The 35/2.8 is such a tiny lens, it may make your 7 almost pocketable! 😀

I used my 28mm lens on the Canon P without the 28mm finder by using the entire window in the P.

Interesting, Raid, b/c the 35mm framelines on the P are at the outer edges of the vf. I've used the entire window of the 7 w/ a 28, but I didn't think it would work on the P. Based on the shots of Damascus and Amman w/ your Canon 28, you've clearly figured out how to do this!

Steve,

I must have guessed well. I wanted to mount the meter on the flash mount, and therefore the finder had to go.

Like others have stated, a favorite among my wide-angle lenses. Lower-contrast, and small. I like using it on a Leica CL.

You know there are two versions? I had the earlier one. Really nice and small. Nice lower contrast. I sold it because it kinda doubled in character with the Ultron 35, which is ofcourse faster at 1,7.

OH! THAT kind of screw mount. I was thinking "X-rated photos" for a moment. Must be why I always called it Leica THREAD mount. 😉
