I have a Canon 35mm f2.8 ltm and am wondering about using it on an M4 body. Is this a good, OK, or bad combo. I don't have an M mount adapter yet, and don't want to buy one if this is a poor way to go. I also don't want to spend hundreds more on another lens, as I primarily shoot med frmt. Thanks for any input.

The Canon 35/2.8 is a very good lens. I find mine sharp, drawing a slightly lower contrast image. Very consistent with that "vintage" 1950s look of photographs. It is tiny, I think it is a very good combo.

Thanks for the info, especially to Rover for the detail. As to the adapter, I have read that the cheap ones can give varying results. I will go ahead and order one from Stephan G's site.
Thanks again,
Gerry

FWIW, every $15 Chinese adapter I have ever used works superbly. I suspect they have a handle now on how to do it--it is not a complicated adapter. Plus, you're more willing to file 'em down if you want them to bring up alternate framelines.

The Canons are generally quite good examples of their era, but can have more centering issues than Leica lenses of the time. I used a 35/2 for a number of years in the early 70's.
