I have managed to get my hands on a really good condition Canon 50/0.95 converted for the M mount. Everything is good about it, except 2 problem areas:

1. It front focuses quite badly, so needs some calibration
2. While it mounts perfectly on my Leica M8 and M7 bodies, it will not mount on my Epson R-D1s or on my Voigtlander Bessa bodies.

So, I need to find someone in Hong Kong who can solve these issues for me - can any of my fellow RF forum members suggest somewhere. I have someone in Tokyo, where I go regularly for work who I know can do it, but I would prefer having it done locally.

Suggestions welcomed.

Regards
David

Have a chat with Mr. Lee of Panda Camera, 17/F Double Building on Stanley Street in Central. Don't know if he does this work specifically but he'll work on just about anything (it seems) for very good prices.

Well, I went in and was surrounded by some pretty impressive old gear - along with racks of violins - I kid you not. He claims he can have a look and test the whole setup - but warns me that it is a very tough lens to get right first time. He will give it a full overhaul as well as the focus was quite stiff - maybe adding to the problem. I'll get it back on on February 2, so will post the results of that exercise.

I gave in to my darker side and bought a Noctilux to keep it company, so now I can compare.

Can you post a picture of the mount at the rear? I had mine sent to DAG. Quite a nice lens for that certain nostalgic look:

Got the 0.95 back

Got the 0.95 back

Well, the guy at Panda has been simply excellent. The lens is back in beautiful condition, calibrated and all the movements lubricated and working smoothly. The focus is now spot on (within my poor tolerance of focusing ability) and the pictures look excellent. He even painted a red dot on the side to help in aligning the lens for mounting - so excellent service. I will post a photo of the mount in a couple of days - too busy running around taking photos with this on my M8 just at the moment.

Cheers
David
