Any good camera tech can repair a filter ring dent for a small fee (about the cost of lunch in whatever currency). The dent on the ring does imply however that the lens got a bang somewhere in its past. The CV 40/1.4 is a beautiful lens, very well made, very useful, and sharp - also a good choice.
Thanks again for the input, guys. I live in Argentina, and those lenses are far from common down here. I asked the seller for pictures and noted a small, but noticeably, hit on the filter ring. So, the lens is not in MINT condition. I think I would go for a fast 40 (such CV 1.4) or a fast 35.
