Canon 50/1.5 filter size/pitch

Hallo,

I bought a 40>>40.5mm stepup ring for my Canon 50/1.5. Problem is it does fit - it seems to be slightly too small.

Anyone else using a step-up ring with their 50/1.5?

BTW the 40.5mm clip-cap works a treat.

Hmm. Have you tried using a 39mm filter with just a bit of teflon tape on its thread? It should make the filter snug in...err...snugly.

That's not a bad idea Gabriel, I'll give that a go tonight. But I'm still curious as to why the stepup ring doesn't fit...

I use a 40-43mm step up filter ring on my Canon 50/1.5. I usually put a skylight (1B) filter and generic hood on the ring. So far, no problems that I've noticed.

I have a 40 to 40.5 step-up ring that works fine on my Canon 50/1.5, purchased from eBay seller American Eagle. Maybe you got a bad example of the ring. Gabriel's suggestion of teflon tape would probably work pretty well.
