Canon 50mm 1.4 LTM hood

I have a 50mm 1.4 LTM and some Leica filter screw-on, as they don't have the external thread, any suggestions for a hood? I can find his original in Japan or the United States and the import taxes .......... would cost a little too much

Use a quality 48mm filter with external threads, they are not hard to get or expensive from brands like Hoya

Look for a Vivitar 48mm metal lens hood.

I bought two of them for my Canon 50mm f1.4 lenses when they were at a clearance sale at my local camera shop a few years ago, these are a lot cheaper than a vintage piece clamp- on Canon lens hoods made for that lens and work just as well.

Just by online perusing Eb@y for 48mm filters and 48mm metal lens hoods on Al!express or Am@zon.... you can get a Hoya filter and a suitable metal lens hood all combined for around 25 dollars including shipping.

I often use after market hoods even when I own the original (which are too expensive to damage / lose). If you cannot find one in 48mm that you like, buy a stepping ring (e.g. 48mm to 49mm) and use a lens hood that fits that (It's a good solution for filters too if you cannot find filters in 48mm) . Stepping rings cost maybe one dollar on eBay. I also always keep my eyes open when visiting a camera store. They often have boxes of vintage hoods, filter etc., that have been reclaimed from traded in lenses and sell these cheap. I have picked up some real bargains.

There are a few vendors on Fleabay out of Japan that specialize in Canon LTM lenses and accessories. They often have the OEM filters and hoods. One seller from whom I’ve bought such items goes by the name “Tokyo-Camera-Girl”

Thanks to all, I already bought the lens hood, the screw type, the problem I have to change the filters, as the Leica ones don't have the front screw coupling. So either I find a non-screw plug-in hood or I have to look for the filters ... 2 one yellow and one red.

Note that many Slip-On Hoods give the diameter of the fitting: the Canon Hood is listed as an S-50 to fit the lens that uses a 48mm screw in filter. So the question is: does the Yashica hood slip-over a 46mm screw in filter, or a 48mm filter.

Thanks for the warning, the problem is that being in Italy, purchases from Japan have VAT at 22% plus customs clearance costs of 2% with a minimum of 13.50 euros. In Europe, I found a Canon T 50 lens hood that goes for 48mm. I was looking for if it was okay on the 50 1.4.

The T50 hood is for a Telephoto lens, the 135mm F3.5 also takes the same diameter hood.
S= Standard, T= Telephoto. It might cause vignetting on the 50.

The S-50 is just under 24mm long.

I just picked up the T-50 off Ebay- $15 with shipping, I can use it with my 85/2 Nikkor and 135/3.5 Canon. I'll check vignetting on the 50/1.4 when it arrives.

The T-50-2 arrived, and I tested it on the Canon 50/1.4. The hood slipped nicely over the lens with the original Canon UV filter, which does not have front threads. There IS slight vignetting in the extreme corners. If you cannot find the S-50: you could polish the T-50-2 down slightly for the corners to clear the hood. As the hood is easy to orient on the lens, and the lens does not rotate as you focus: you could just file down the part of the hood that lines up with the far corners of the image.

Thanks for the test and the tip, in the meantime I managed to find an S-50 in Spain, but it's all black .... will it have been painted?

You mean even the collar with the "50mm" marked?
I suspect that was painted. It should look nice.

Yes, only the screw to fix it is not black, with its case. Anyway, I took it, waiting for it to arrive.
