Canon LTM CANON 50mm F1.2 LTM

I like the long fokus throw on this lens. It is just right for precise focus on the Leica M8 and it has this smoth and solid feeling while focussing.
Infinity lock is no problem, you can open it with yor right little finger while focussing with the left hand. Or you can disable ist. This is lots better than the infinity lock on my 1962 Summicron.
Aperture ring does not rotate (mine is a littel stiff).

Here's one shot wide open. I've found my copy to be really quite sharp at the point of focus, but very difficult to focus its razor thin DOF into exactly the right spot. I took some more where my focus was more accurate, but this one is my favorite.

Aperture rings on the later Canon lenses don't rotate.

Except for the 85/1.8 and 25/3.5, which do have aperture rings that rotate with the focusing mount. (There may be others, but those are the only two of the later Canon LTM lenses in my collection with that property.)

Even among the earlier Canon LTM lenses, it's only the collapsible 50mm lenses that have rotating aperture rings, AFAIK.

So, I've been wanting a canon 50mm f1.2 for many years.
I finally found one at a price I could afford and had a chance to play with it last week. It sure is a mixed bag of tricks to say the least.

this thread on RFF made me buy a 50 Canon 1.2 LTM and as expected it front focusses on my M8.
Yours seems spot on focuswise,
did you calibrate it yourself or had it collimated?

The previous owner had it CLA'd. I generally find shooting at 1.2 pretty tricky and prefer to keep the subject at least 6' away

Sorry for only seeing your question now. Honestly I don't know. Shooting this wide open is always tricky, so I just tend to shoot three shots in a row moving focus slightly each time. Usually one of these is sharp then.

Not so much into the shallow dof sort of photography really, I have started to like this lens for low light situations a lot.
