VICTORY!You‘ll have to post some photos of where you are in the disassembly. It sounds like you are trying to reach the aperture mechanism from the back of the lens, but that is incorrect. Have you separated the lens block from the helicoid yet? That is the first thing you need to do. Post some photos of your current progress and I‘m sure people can help.
Thanks for the advice. I was able to get into the front of the lens by removing the front lens block, then taking out and cleaning the blade assembly to remove all the oil. (took a while to get the blades to line up again to fit back into the lens). Reassembly went well, but in the end I was only able to use 1 of the 2 grub screws as one was a few hundred microns too tall, and kept the lens from fitting together again. I'll look around for another donor lens.
Focus is now very smooth as is the aperture ring after some lubricant from Polar Bear cameras. I've not tried getting into the focus mechanics, but will give it a spin once I recover from this adventure. I've got a IIIf coming back from a CLA, and will give this combo a spin soon!
