How good is the Canon 50mm optical bright line finder compared with the leitz 5cm bright line finder. ideally i would like a Leitz 5cm finder but i have spotted a Canon finder for far less

any help greatly appreciated

I have the Canon black 50mm finder that is usually associated with the 50/0.95 Canon lens. The finder is nice and bright, although not quite as bright as one of the recent Voigtlander finderss. The 50mm frame lines show up quite well and are evenly lit, although you have to get your eye very close to the finder to see the frame lines, and I suspect that people wearing glasses may not be able to get close enough. The Canon finder is all metal construction, and nicely made.

I've owned several Canon VFs, cleaned them and actually used them. They're nicely made, historical, and work fine, but can't hold a light (no pun intended) to the modern VC/ CV ones in terms of brightness/ clarity.
