Canon 7 A/R switch question.

I recently picked up a Canon 7, and am wondering about the Advance/Rewind switch.
When I first received the camera, it seemed like the switch/collar was loose.
I snugged up the 3 tiny set screws, but I am worried about the collar slipping when moving to rewind position.
My question is, should the collar hard stop at either A or R? Is it bad if the collar moves past the A and R?

Hi Colton,
The collar is held just by those three screws, it would only slip if the screws aren’t tight enough. If you are on the R position and it is not lined up correctly to the dot just loosen the screws, realign and tighten them again. There should be a hard stop at both positions and you should feel the indent at the red shutter lock in between them. the post underneath can only be turned to those three positions. Hope that makes sense.

Those set screws seem weak but the collar is surprisingly reliable when tightened (no need for excessive force or you will break them). Make sure you use a screwdriver that fits perfectly, not too large or too small. Also, if the camera hasn't been opened before, Canon loved to put a dab of lacquer on almost all the screws in their cameras so a little drop of lighter fluid on them will make life easier for you.
