OUCH! My Canon 7 died.

The repair guy (Eric's camera repair in Glendale) said a part in the shutter block was broken.

It had a broken meter and was very heavily used when I bought it for $80 a couple years ago.

I used it as my everyday walk around camera. I always had my J3 on it. I removed the meter, added a shoe, put on griptac, and painted it black.

I still have my very nice 7s and my mint B&H 7.

Sweet! I've got a similar 7, bought from someone on this forum:

Surely you can get the camera repaired?

The camera repair guy (Eric in Glendale) said the camera cannot be fixed due to a lack of replacement parts. I've never used this repair guy before.

Steve's camera in Culver City wants $200 just to clean and adjust the camera before labor and parts on the repairs. I could see topping out at $300!

My regular repair guy (Zvi in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, CA) has been quite ill for several months and not been at his shop. He could fix anything and had a nice inventory of parts. I fear the worst for him.

I could take the camera over to our "Head Bartender". He has a repair service. It looks to be $175 plus parts. He has an additional $35 return shipping charge and $30 to ship to him. That's $240 before parts. Maybe I could drive it over to him and save $65. It is a 10 minute drive for me
