Hi All:
Since I started this thread . I just won a Canon P on the bay... and I have also bought a Juipter 8 50mm as well. I thought this will get me going until I decide which other lens
to spend money on. There is no turning back now !.

On the J-12 comment above - I'm interested to see that some examples may fit with either no modification or minor modification.
J-12 examples vary considerably on the depth of the large internal element and perhaps even more on the diameter of the final element. This depends on the precise optical formula which in turn depends on the precise optical glass - which varied a great deal over time.
As the owner of a petite J-12 I have used it on cameras where the lenses are "proven" to not fit. But I have never seen any system to determine compatibility in advance, which makes buying a now moderately priced lens (as opposed to insanely cheap lens) too much of a gamble in questionable situations.
FWIW my J-12 is a black 1976 version.
All unqualified statements about J-12 lenses are false, including this one.
