Canon 7 RF adjustment

Today I sat down to re align my canon 7 RF as it is both horizontall;y and vertically out and after adjusting the vertical alignment with the 135mm lens set at infinity I went to adjust the horizontal alignment which at infinity required a counter clockwise turn to shift the image to the right however the problem is that in turning the screw counter clockwise The screw starts coming out before the images are aligned and at the point it starts coming out the image will stop moving right no matter how much it turns. Am i missing something?

Could it be that the screw is broken? Also, could it be that the RF arm is bent or out of whack somehow? You may need to pop the top cover off to find the true culprit.

The screw is definitely not broken as it will move the image both ways, it just hits a point where it will not adjust the image anymore as the screw will come out.

It is probably the RF arm or something internally being out of whack probably. Never done any work under the top cover of an RF. What should I look for?

I took off the cover of my Canon 7 a few years back. I used a repair manual, which I found someplace online (free). No real surprises taking off the top plate as I recall, but you do have to remember what shutter speed and ASA you’ve set before removing the top. Once off, you should be able to see what the problem is.

Currently using the repair manual however I cannot for the life of me find the screws in the shutter speed diall. I have removed one but cant find the other two

On mine, screws between 1 and 1/2 second, between 30 and 60, and between 250 and 500.

Could you confirm the orientation of the screws in relation to the hole because it feels like I have to inset the screwdriver at a slight angle in order to find a screwdriver or a hole

I took a magnifier and a bright light and looked closely at the holes. The screws screw in straight, they're not at an angle. I also discovered I'm missing one screw, but that's another story entirely.

Got it all off however I cannot seem to get the housing for the flash port off this where I could use someone who has done this before, it looks like it turns off but it is stuck down tight

I just found this note I saved. I didn't write this, somebody else did. It may help you:

"The only tricky part is removing the shutter speed dial before removing the top cover, you can do this more easily by setting the film speed to 400, and then setting the shutter speed to 1/15. This will allow the three set screws to line up. Back out the screws (don't remove them, they are tiny, and a little difficult to put back into place), then lift off the dial. The aperture value in the meter should show the orange f/2.8 setting. Then remove the set screws around the shutter button collar, the wind and rewind levers, and the screws holding on the top cover."

The inner part of the flash socket unscrews, but you need a spanner that will fit the two notches. I actually use a pair of fine tweezers for that purpose. The outer part pulls straight off.

Thats annoying, I just got the top plate off. I wrote down my settings although as i turned the screws the ASA display moved, I should be fine right as long as I didnt press the asa button and turn it.

Just found some fungus on one of the RF prisms as well as a lot of dirt. whats the best way to remove this?

Cant see how to make the adjustment needed to the arm and dont want to risk anything. I know when to stop so sending it off to my local repairman
