something neat I spotted on ebay:

Canon 7/Model VT Deluxe Hybrid

This is pretty cool because I don't think there's a trivial way of making the Canon 7 work with a trigger winder - under the base plate you have access to the bottom of the shutter drum, but that's not connected to the film transport gears. So I don't know how this was done. But what do I know about hacking Canon 7s.

I've seen this listing for at least a year.

Wonder why?

This was part of peter decherts collection
He wrote the canon rangefinder camera book
Song of snow bought much of his collection several years back
I purchased his black paint canon L1 from song of snow 3 or so years back
Bobkonos has that camera in his collection currently

Fun story - I got to hold this very camera in my dirty paws a couple of days ago. I was at the St. Lawrence market antique deal (downtown Toronto) and I spotted this at Hit Camera's table and freaked out a little. It works (well, not sure about the stuff the guy in the ad says; I didn't check it thoroughly), and it's a clean conversion. The owner of the store said it was from the Deschert collection (as mentioned here) and he said it must be a factory job - and I'd have to agree - because it's cleanly executed, and not a trivial job to do the conversion...

The owner of Hit camera turns out to be a serious camera collector too - he's got stuff I'd never even heard of (1.2 Noctilux... in chrome??????) and the world's largest Karsh print collection. But maybe that's a story for another day.

So yeah, if you want a Canon 7 with a trigger winder, it's for sale at Hit Camera in Thornhill, Ontario.

I saved the pictures, you decide:
