The Canon 85mm f1.5 I purchased arrived in the mail yesterday. As reported the lens is a bit heavy. None the less, it's a wonderful lens to use. I will let the photos speak for themselves.

Congrats. Doesn't look too heavy compared to 90/2 Summicron or 135/2.8 ...

Please consider posting your photos to the M-mount flickr forum.

Thanks,

Roland.

It's definately smaller than the cron and 135/2.8, but a bit heavier than the v2 cron. The extra speed is definately worth carrying a few more ounces.

Have you had a chance to see how it handles flare? My 85/2 is really bad about it - I have had significant flare indoors from fluorescent lighting (!) if I forget to use my hood.

Beautiful images - thank you for sharing them.

I haven't. There was pretty much overcast the entire time I was shooting these. Northern NJ has been a pretty dismal place this last week. I will will try to elicit some flare on the next roll.

No problem, thanks for looking

You are too lucky. Not only does this lens look sexy it takes wonderful photos. A numberr of years back I had a very nice example of a Canon 85mm f1.8 (Or is it 1.9? I can never remember.) While I loved it to pieces even though it weighed a ton and gave me a neck ache to carry around, it never focussed properly, with the result that I could never get good shots. I did make some inquiries about having it adjusted but never got around to spending the money and ended up trading it for something else. The shots taken with your 1.5, I must say are simply stunning.
