Canon A1 problem

The shutter releases when I wind the film. The shutter button itself does not work. I tried to clean the magnet contacts, but it didn't help.. any idea how I can fix it?

Common problem with all of the A series. MG2 the release magnet is bad, could be dirt, but usually the magnet is bad...two screws and two solder joints and its out...

MG2 is down under the shutter mounted to the body casting, pull the bottom plate and there you go

Can be dirt, though, I've had some clean up and go. Give it a try ....

yes you can slide the clear cover off and take it apart, clean well and hope
