I got mine for £1.
Sadly didn't last very long under the waves, a couple rolls.
Quite a bit of care has to be taken if you submerge it, not only attaining the rules of keeping seals without debris but also taking into account its aging.
I think I should have put some silicon grease on the seals and water woudn't have seeped into circuits and corroded them. Splashes and rain would be no problem.

The canon can do a much better job than disposable Underwater cameras, which are sadly quite wasteful and expensive in comparison.

Good luck with your Canon, and your fishing!

Dear Mike,

I have a Minolta Weathermatic Dual 35 that I used for years on fishing trips.

It never gave me a lick of trouble. When my brother and I used to fish out of float tubes we'd toss it back and forth to each other so we could take pictures of our fish. It's bright yellow and it floats which is a real bonus.

I hope you get the same service out of your Canon.

Regards,

i plan to use it from the shore only, thought it might cope with all th sand, as for submerging it, well thats just scary😱

I have one, it's a great little camera.

In my usage, it's never been submerged, but it's a sturdy little workhorse, and will certainly stand up to everyday usage.

Dry land shot.

Canon WP1
for fun

I have a Canon Sureshot A-1 I had planned to use as my foul-weather camera.
Soon after I bought a Nikonos V. Since then the A-1 has been gathering dust.
I forgot I had it. If you find it exposes and focuses reliably I'll give mine a try.
