Hi Brain and crew.

I have an otherwise nice canon 50mm f/1.8 RF black version which at first appeared quite clear.

However on very close inspection, when you hold it just right:

Since copies are often running around 120, and it's a good shooter, I think a CLA might be overboard. I could resell it for cheap and get a better copy.

But how hard would it be to get in there? I see no screws at all, so I assume the the front screws off.

What sort of spanner would i need?

Tips for disassembly of this one?

TY, sir

PS first image magnifies the issue I think, here it is from the other end:

You need a Spanner to get into it. The optics module is held in by a retaining ring. Take it off with the spanner, the optics module drops out. When it is out, you will see some additional spanner slots. Rear module should come out. Some vary in construction. But all come out of the focus mount after taking off the first ring.

Now- the Black Canon lenses tend to "etch" on the surface shown. However- if that is the case, just use the lens with a hood. It will give better results than you think.
