Canon Eos 1V or Nikon F6 or.. for weddings?

T

I read that the Eos 5 is faster/better in Lowlight focus than eos 3 or 1V so that's nice. Can anybody confirm this from experience?

The EOS 5 is definitely better in low light focusing than the EOS-1n - I don't know about the V. If the 1V does not have a IR assist lamp, then the EOS5 has an advantage.

Today i tried the Eos 3 and 1V and Eos 5 side by side. Shutter sound of the 3 and 1v are almost the same. Eos 5 is considerably quieter. Got the Eos 5 with lens for 25 euro!!
Will do some tests with this one while i figure out if a Eos 3, 1V or F6/F100 would be a better choice regarding Sound and low light AF.

F6 is a rare beast. Hope i can find one or see a video to see how they compare in lowlight af and sound. (the Nikons indeed look more sexy.)

I would be very surprised if the Eos 5 is as fast as a 1v.

Do you think there is a difference in Low light focussing ability between F6 and F100 (Or eos5/3/1V)?

I no longer have the F6, so i can't compare it — don't remember the AF performance.

Between the EOS3 and F100, though, the F100 is more certain (less of a struggle to acquire focus) in a dark room when i just compared them. But, that room was darker than you'd ever shoot in. As far as actual speed when they both acquired focus, i'd say they were even.

I love the EOS3's eye-control focus, but when it's not immediately acquiring the subject, it can be a bit more frustrating than when a 'normal' camera isn't getting it. Maybe that's just me, though.

UPDATE: as noted above, if you're using a first gen. 5D, any of these film SLR are probably better at AF.

If weight is an issue, the 1v is heavy. For €25,- you can't go wrong and if it focusses good enough for you, well, who cares some other camera is slightly better....

I doubt also that the low light focussing of the 5 is better then the newer 1v. The focus assist light (I don't think it is IR) might make a difference.
