canon F1...heavy

If I remember, when modern photography tore an original f1 apart, dang near everything that rotated was on ballbearings. Such a sweet camera to use
 
My F1N was soaked in sea water (in Maine). The frame counter stopped working, so I took it for a CLA. The reapirman told me that the camera was very well sealed inside and that the elctronics were not damaged at all by the salt water.
 
My brother-n-law's F-1 was stored in the unheated crawl space of their home for a couple years.
The repairman got it working again but would not guarantee the repair due to "evidence of humidity".

So I guess the weather sealing is not all that great. That said it's still a camera model I'd like to own.

I hardly bring these classics out for the same reason stated in the title... they are HEAVY!! I guess I'm spoilt by the Micro 4/3 system and my trusty iPhone.

I always thought the Olive Drab F-1 was cool. Never saw one in person, just in magazines and then later on the internet.

Had an F-1n and an F-1N, and although the F-1N had more features, and may have been better made, the F-1n always had a place in my heart.

Here is something I found on the web when my mirror was getting a bit slow on my new F1 there seems to be a bit of a design fault where the base starts rubbing against part of the mechanics and slows the mirror down, you can see both of my new F1s have suffered from it I've circled where the problem happens to fix you just need to bend the base a little to add some clearance.
I can't take any credit for this I didn't discover it! originally.

The F1's (any of the versions) weight makes it great for balance when mounted on telephotos.

Do any of you know where this brown Olympic strap came from? A friend of mine had it show up with some other gear he bought a couple years back, but no story of what camera it "belongs" to and he doesn't have any older Canon stuff so he very nicely sent it my way.

The other New F1 is now gone, as is the 200-500mm Tamron. Nice lens but once I got the 300mm 60B, I didn't use the zoom.

All this talk of F1s has made me feel sorry for mine having no interesting lenses, which just made me go and buy a 24-35L lens!
