Don't blame me for starting this thread. FrankS triggered it in the "OM, I've become a Zuikoholic!" thread

I love FD lenses so much but have always disliked the look and feel of the bodies. Each generation.

The T90 was near perfect but sooooo loud I couldn't get into the same room as the thing.

Here is mine - not too pretty as it's more of a workhorse, but still holds its own (it's for sale now too):

Canon make great cameras and in fact I had an AE1 Program for quite a few years that did excellent service in Nepal in the mid nineties on an organised trek. I shot ten rolls of Kodachrome all in AE with some sort of macro zoom and didn't really have a clue what I was doing photographically but got pretty decent results none the less.

I don't recall ever seeing a Canon camera I thought was beautiful though ... they missed the style boat somewhat IMO! :p

Well, these are, of course, personal views, but I think you are in a minority here - as Canon started a HUGE trend with T90, which developed into thier EOS line and many other camera makers followed with similar lines. Just look at how smooth and rounded SLRs are now. Canon T90 is a beautiful machine - looks and functions - way ahead of it's time and cool even now.

I agree with respect to SLRs and even their old RFs, but they've all been functional, mostly reliable, and (more recently at least) ergonomically sound.

Now the ELPH and newer IXUS/PowerShot compacts are pretty nice looking. I'd say better looking than any of their competitors.

You're right Krosya it's a very personal view ... though I am puzzled myself as to why Canon cameras don't appeal to me at all.

That T90 looks like an interesting beast though! :D

I just realised I have a gear shot of the old AE1 Program ... am I forgiven for being so slanderous?

It's not that bad I guess! :p

Pretty Canons. I could not get used to the walkway between the shutter release and the advance lever on the AE-1P. The Canon 7 will not win any beauty contests. Neither will the F1.

My EF will. I'll post a picture of it later.

T90 and EF....

T90 and EF....

I have a very nice T90 which really delivers results. Noise, ...Hmmm, I wouldn't know because of my hearing.

I also have an EF Black Beauty (third one), and have enjoyed the EF's. The biggest plus on the EF is the ability to use any battery that fits (1.35 to 1.5 volts) because the circuitry has a regulator to limit max voltage to 1.35 (the old PX625 mercury). Battery acquisition is no problem.

I did not know that! The Mercury Cells are coming out of that EF, and alkaline going in.

Shelf life on Mercury batteries seems to be over 15 years on Eveready. That bunny knew how to make batteries. Kodak batteries- no so good.

Good lookin' Canons? I'd go with the original F-1 and the EF. The ugliest Canon SLR? Easily any "T" series camera with the "billboard" on the top front cover.

The Canon cameras are beautiful - in my opinion; and they have a sexy sound and feel when advancing the film.
My A-1, now used by my son; I have to use the AV-1 now!

You should hear my EOS3 with booster then ;). My T90 has been dead for so long I can't remember it's noise. But I loved using it, it was almost perfect for me.

The F1 (Old one, first model) is a beat I love !
