Leica LTM Canon FL Mount with Adapters?

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Sure, Canon Lens Mount Convertor B has been around a long time. Allows use of all Canon breech-lock lenses (Super Canonmatic, FL, and FD) on LTM cameras. Correct infinity focus, but no rangefinder coupling, of course.

There are other adapters, but they all allow using other lenses on a Canon SLR body. (A for LTM, no infiinty focus, E for Exakta, P for Pentax, and the quite rare N for Nikon.)

Pardon the quick-but-terrible phone.pics, but I think it's clear enough to see what a Barnack + conv.B looks like with a Canon 1.8 lens attached. Pretty much destroys the "petite advantage" of the Leica. Needless to say, the VF is well covered, but with a wide lens + aux. finder, I guess that wouldn't matter either. I just never really got into it or bothered to try other lenses. The Converter.B is homebound in my "drawer of stuff."

Got to admit that it looks a little out of place on your Barnack, but the adapters do work and are quite functional on later Leica and Canon screw-mount cameras. I have Canon FD lenses in 24/f2, 28/f2.8, and 35/f2.8 that all work nicely using the Converter B. Add an adapter that lets me use 42mm thread mount lenses, (Pentax, etc.) on a Canon FD, and there many more that can be used.

For street use and candids in general, the concept of pre-setting the focus distance, aperture and shutter speed is made to order for these combinations.

Most of the Canon and Pentax manual focus lenses are very reasonably priced, except for the very wide ones. I doubt the e-bay seller will get his $600 price on the 19 FL. Get the adapters first, they are harder to find. Then the wide angle lenses that will work with them are all over the place and cheap.

For a gear head this stuff is fun.

Yeah, I actually got the Adapter.B when I had just purchased a BessaL with the idea of WA "pre-set" shots like you mentioned. On the Bessa, even the 50mm lens didn't look sooo huge. Even a couple of test rolls shot at inf. for scenics worked quite well. However, the Bessa was sold and the adapter went on the shelf.

I use the Canon 7.5mm fisheye lens with Adapter B on Leica cameras or Canon rangefinder cameras. It is impossible to find a 7.5mm lens for a Leica, and even if it existed, there is no way in the world that I could afford one.
I have also used the Canon 17mm FD lens this way.

Adapter B goes for about $50, which given how common it seems to be is surprisingly high.

Now if you want ugly, consider an EOS lens on a Barnack body. Talk about "overstuffed" lenses. I think modern SLR lenses are getting ridiculously large. (Of course, nobody makes such an adapter.)

hmmm, I have a 17mm FD fisheye, and a few 24mm's that could be fun on the P.

I'll have to see if I can dig up one of those converters.
