Canon fs4000 scsi and mac os10.58

Anyone running their canon scanner with a Mac? I just bought this scanner from KEH and I'm wondering if the SCSI to firewire or USB 2 adaptors are worth the investment (in this case 1/2 the cost of the scanner). I've searched the web and have found plenty of references to these adaptors and the speed advantage over USB 1, but have yet to find anyone's post speaking to the success in using them with a later Mac. If anyone is using this scanner with a Mac(For me a Macbook Pro) via scsi please let me know how you did it. Thanks....

Fist of all research if the Canon Software is compatible with OSX 10.5.8
According to the spec’s its updated to 10.4. Its hopeful what they updated in July 2009.

Since you are “only” doing 35mm scan’s I think the files are not big enough to really slow you down. Adding the cost for the FW or SCSI might bump the costs to the level of a Nikon Coolscan witch has FW400 standard.

With regards to SCSI. I am not sure. It depends on your hardware and the SCSI card.
You need to investigate the card’s and the software available and how well it play’s with your system. Check out www.macsales.com for these cards and give them a call for some advice.

I have checked Apple’s Knowledge base from the Genius side and could not find any support articles with regards to this scanner.

Thanks for replying... I'm not sure if the canon software supports OSX 10.58 but Vuescan does and that's what I plan to use. I've read through hundreds of posts about this scanner and quite a few site using a scsi adapter to increase scanning speeds but I have yet to find a post where someone has actually done it. I want to use my macbook pro with firewire 400/800, usb 2 and an expresscard/34 slot.

I realize using the USB 1 will probably suffice and that's probably the decision most people made with a similar setup. Still I'd like to hear if anyone has had success with an adaptor.

This leaves only one option:
Buy it, try it. Figure out how to make it work or why it doesn’t and shade this missing knowledge.
