That is actually not a camera grip. That is a tripod camera holder I believe. You will see that attached to the camera it provides for alternate tripod connection sockets.
Value???? I really don't have an idea. I think I sent one to Joe once for a couple filters to be named later, or maybe a pastrami sandwich. I forget what the deal was for the one I had.

Keh presently has three of these camera holders under "Canon RF miscellaneous accessories" for prices between 17 and 27 USD.

upps,
In answer to the first part of your question, that holder does not fit the Canon P. I use the "M-Grip" by Photo Equip, it's an early version of what they made for Leica M cameras, fits fine. You can find them used at reasonable prices, B&H had one a while ago.
Another option is the Zhou case for Canon P - it fits great and gives a nice handle to the camera.
Hope that helps.

Conrad,
That's not a grip at all. As mentioned, it's a Tripod Adapter of sorts that centralize the lens axis to the tripod. Otherwise, the tripod mounts to the camera at the end of the body. It also allows easy mounting of the camera in both horizontal and vertical position with a detachable silver intermediate mounting plate, which is missing in your pictures. There is a built in spirit leveler on this chrome L shaped plate.
I believe there are 4 types of Canon Camera Holder. The last type might be able to hold the Canon P as it is able to hold the Canon 7.
A full set with the 2 parts and leather holder usually cost a lot less than US$120.
Cheers,
