Canon IVS Shutter Brake Query

I have recently picked up a Canon IVS at a old antique shop. The lens that came on it cleaned up better than I thought it would; the camera, which I assumed would be the easy bit, has stumped me.

When I was looking it over, the first thing that I noticed (other than that the slow speeds all ran the same) was that the second curtain didn't make it to the end of the film gate. I thought it would be a tension issue, but it turns out that it is not. The curtain seems to be hitting its brakes before it ought to.

How and where do I adjust this? Is it something that I can access from the bottom or does it require further disassembly? Pictures are appreciated - Thanks in advance!

The lubricant has probably dried up and become sticky which is preventing the second curtain from traveling all the way across the film gate. Not unusual for a camera that is now more than 50 years old. It needs a CLA.

I just picked up a IVsb body with patched curtains, erratic slow speeds and cloudy VF. If you didn't pay too much for the camera it's definitely worth it to pay for a CLA and shutter adjustment or replacement. Unless you are experienced at repairing focal-plane shutters, it may not be an easy fix.

Mine is turning out to be a very nice shooter and it was worth the cost to make sure everything is operating correctly. Youxin Ye did a full overhaul including curtain replacement for only $180 and I had it back in a little over 2 weeks. It now feels like a new camera and the VF/RF is much easier to use than my Leica IIIf.
