Canon IVSB High Speed Alaignment

I've noticed the alignment indents on my IVSB don't match up with the indicated speeds. 1/500 is right on, but the 1/1000 is passed the alignment point, similarly the 1/200 speed is before the 1/100 position. Thnigs seem to be OK at 1/40 and I have the correct number of indents (6) between 1/40-1/1000. Any thoughts out here?

Not sure from your description of the problem. It is possible the speed dial was improperly adjusted and clamped in position by the set screws so that the speeds do not align properly with the index mark. If that is the case you simply have to find a known speed then loosen the set screws and realign the speed dial to match the known speed.

The easiest is to find the B setting where the shutter stays open as long as you are holding the release down. Once you know it is set to B, then simply loosen the set screws and align the dial so that B is opposite the index mark and then tighten the set screws. after that, all speeds should align properly with the index when the shutter is cocked.

Another quick check is the setting for the slow speeds. If the slow speeds work when the high speed dial is set with 1/25 opposite the index mark then your problem is something other than a misadjusted high speed dial.
