Hello,

I just started to become interested in Canon bottom load RF.

I read in Peters book that the IVSb2 should have the better rangefinder ot these two.

What ist the difference between their rangefinders and does it affect the usefullnes and ergonomics of using the rangefinder?

(I was used to the soviet FED-2 and old folder rangefinders before looking through a M3 first time about one year ago.)

Regards,
Thomas

I had one of those-never did know for sure which one-for a year in Germany with the Canon/Serenar 50/1.8 lens. It worked for me. That was in 1969. There are days when I still miss that camera. I think either would suit you just fine.

The eyepiece opening is a little larger on the IVSb2 and its so called improved brothers, that is all as far as the RF geometry goes.

I own both kinds of bottomloader Canons and the finders are both squinty IMHO.

You will start to see much improvement in the V series Canons and the L1 and L2 and L3 as far as RF eyepiece openings go.
