Canon LTM Canon IVSb2 in black & 50mm f1.8 in black original.

It’s a beauty. Probably not done by Canon.

Dechert, in his 1985 book, knows of only black IV-Sb cameras. One belongs to Canon, another a collector in Tokyo. I wonder what the story is on this one?

Too bad Canon did not offer the IVSb2 and its derivatives in factory black paint, as it is very fetching indeed.

NOT A CANON INC Black camera but a repaint done by an expert in doing that type of thing.

Canon only made THREE black IVSB and as "Mackinaw"mentioned. A third appeared in the USA quite a few years ago and is owned by a guy on the East Coast. These IVSB were painted black and given to VIPS at some function but unsure when and where.

The three black lenses I have in my collection.

Some more observations WHY this is a fake.

The IVSB2 was released in July 1954 and delisted in July 1956.

The Lenses marked "SERENAR" were dropped by Canon in March 1953 and from April 1953 ALL camera models released by Canon had lenses marked "CANON LENS" on the front ID ring.

CANON INC would not place a retro lens on a newer model and I doubt if any manufacturer would do that.

CANON never painted there lenses fully black and the serial # for this lens is so far left field it would not make a home run (and that is from an Aussie?)

Value wise about $400.00 US$ if the guy is lucky.

Sorry get a bit peed of when someone tries to pass something of which it is NOT.

Cheers Peter.

PS One only has to check the timeline in my book page 206 to 209 to work it out.

Jim, I have read Peter's latest response, and this camera came out of a huge collection in Europe of Canon F1's. Every F1 was in it's box, and the # and different models made was outstanding. Just too name a few for eg; for the police departments with radar, and the medical series was huge!. This collection and this camera came out 2 years ago now.
