Ok all you Canon guroos I bought Frank's II-S and now I am lense hunting. Will the J12 fit without any problems. I tried one on the camera at the show today but was not willing to fire the camera with it on. I could not notice any fit issues but was just not sure. Also it was over priced.

My experience with the Jupiter 12 on a Canon II S2 is that my early chrome version would not screw onto the body while a later black version worked fine. The threads on the lens were a little different. You will need to pay more for a black version but it will be money well spent.

The one I tried today was a chrome version and it threaded fine, just wondering about spacing with the glass on the back side. Will it hit the shutter?

The key is to have one made after '57. Before that there was a slight differnce in the ass end of the lens that prevents it from fitting. I own a more recent (black) lens fits both my IVSb & 7 cameras just fine.
Put the camera into T and look very carefully. It should be easy enough to see if it will fit or not.
Good luck!

re: canon bottomloader and J-12
no, the J- 12 rear glass will not hit the shutter curtains, the problem is some J-12s side rear glass will hit the sides of the internal black light baffles on Canon models from the VT, L1, L2, L3, VIT, VIL, P, 7 and 7s. but most do not hit these baffles in my experience. The Canon bottomloaders did not have these light baffles, so you are ok . Most J-12s will thread into most bottomloader Canons with no problem.
