Hello, I have my late Fathers Canon Macro 50mm 3.5 SSC Breech Lock Lens, it takes a 55mm lens filter.
He used a Vivitar collapsible version, that rotted away long ago. I have been searching for a used Canon full plastic version for ages with no results. Now I got tired with a similar search for a Hasselblad lens hood that was rare a while back. I ended up buying a longer focal lens hood and cut it down to size on a table saw.
So my question is, has anyone here any idea of what Canon lens hoods I could purchase and cut down to size in a similar way ?????
Thank you for any help offered.
Cheers,
James.

Most 50 mm macro lenses do not need a lens hood as the glass is deeply recessed in, but any 55 mm lens hood for a 50 mm lens will work.

Here is a genuine Canon one at a reasonable price. https://kamerastore.com/products/can...=CjwKCAjwqauVB

Thanks for that, at least I now understand another reason why I have not been able to find one, no mention of its connection to my lens.
Yes I know that a hood on this particular recessed lens sounds pointless but fingerprints on my filters drive me mad. This lens hood will help stop the problem.
Thank you Sir.
