I got a 100/3.5 (34mm filter black-and-silver version) a while back, it came with a case, a silver hood as pictured and the hood that normally goes with the 100/3.5, with the 36mm clamp on adapter and 100/3.5 engraved hood piece.

Any ideas on what this is for? Seems a bit long/narrow for the 50/3.5, definitely not for the 35/2.8, and those are the only other 34mm filter thread lenses I know of in the Canon lineup.

Any help?

An early version of the 100/3.5 hood?

Maybe Peter Kitchingman will see this. I suspect he would know.

Don't know what it was made for, but the early 50m f2.8 art deco, the 28mm f2.8 for the Demi C, and perhaps other Demi models have 34mm front threads.

In my opinion it is what Ferider says, looking at the shape it is for the 100/4 Serenar. I have one too with a bit finer inscription of the Canon name.
May I ask what serial number your lens has?

Thanks all, confirmed some suspicions, still have not come across another one beyond what's mentioned here.

Serial number of the 100/3.5 shown is 5924X.

It's nothing like the hood that came with my 100/3.5 676xx (looks just like yours). Mine is a 34mm screw-on Series VI holder with a black hood acting as the retainer ring.

farlymac, I have that same. This lens came with that correct style, the silver one shown in the images and a couple caps + case.
