Canon LTM Canon LTM Lens 40mm filters

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Just a bit of trivia: The metal rim of my Canon orange 58mm filter is engraved as follows, "CANON LENS 85mm f:1.5". However, it is not a lens (no power}, it is not 85mm, and it is not f:1.5. At least it is Canon. As you've heard before: Don't believe everything you read. This includes GPS navigation systems.

Well damn. By those lights, I have a flared round metal thing that says "Series VI CANON LENS 50mm f:1.8 35mm f:2.8 35mm f:3.2". It must be a lens collection because it says so--three lenses in one unit, and there's not even any glass! But can someone tell me how I switch focal lengths between the 50 and the 35's?

I never used any filters until I became gearhead ten years ago.
Maybe back then we were in majority?
Why make millions of filters if only two where asking.
One back then and one now :)

Well, checking ebay prices that's been a good investment! Must have a over a dozen including the slim 40mm 'flat front' set. Also have some of the same design 48s (fitting the Canonets) & 58mm's and a few uv/skylight's fitting the Demi cameras - think they are 34mm's?

Come to think of it, i remember buying 5 x 40mm thin skylights or UVs from a guy in Austria, and offering the spare four to members here. Ten years ago. Boxed, in the plastic keepers and some with the instruction leaflet - and delivered for only GBP12.50 each (to Europe)..... They didn't exactly fly of my shelf, taking about 10 days for all to go. Ah well, I spread the good fortune and assume they did get good homes!

For my Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens I had SK Grimes make me a 40mm to 40.5mm step up ring with a twist. They put a groove in it so a Leica vented lens hood 12585 clips nicely to it.

I use 40.5mm filters & a classy lens hood. Problem solved.
