canon mioj

hi i have had a closer look. and compered it with the pictures from the canon museum and it matches the s11. not the 11b

I was getting a mixed message between your 12th and 13th comments.

So an SII it is, an even scarcer camera model than the IIB, you did very well for a fiver, congratulations.🙂

The camera is an S-II and is reasonably late in the production and would have "Canon Camera Company Ltd" on the top. On the baseplate it will have "Made in Occupied Japan" and may have <CPO> in a red diamond beside it?
The lens is a T4 version of the 5cm f/2 lenses and was produced between 4/1949-8/1949 and would be marked "SERENAR" on the front.
Nice find and for a fiver as mentioned WELL DONE.
Are you based in the UK?

Hi
There are FOUR versions or as I call them "TYPES" and yours is a T4.
According to my Official Canon Inc Counter book only 1329 of these 5cm f/2 lenses were produced.
In my book, I hypothesised that about 2008 lenses were produced in this focal length. This was before I managed to purchase the Canon Counter Book with all the production numbers for the screw mount lenses.
It is Rated as a R6 the most common of the four types.
Never the less a nice acquisition and worth keeping.
Cheers Peter
