I have a burr on the screw mount side of the lens. It doesn't seem to show up in pics but I was wondering if it could be repaired?

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of problem?

I was going to sell the camera, light meter, lens and case but I am finding that I really like the P a lot. I forgot how much fun this can be.

Thanks

Generally a light haze can be cleaned from a lens. This is actually relatively common for Canon 50/1.2 lenses. DAG offers reasonable prices and very good service if you are looking for a repair person.

Oh, and yes, this is a good combo, keep enjoying it.

Thank you for the information. However, the lens has a slight chip on the screw mount side. I can feel it. Can that be repaired or is it worth it?

I haven't noticed any flaws in the pics but I am really not that good at this.

ok, you're talking about the rear element and you say that there is a small chip in the glass.
i had a 35/1.8 that was similar and there was no evidence of this flaw in any of the pics i took.
to repair it i'd guess the rear element would have to be changed or maybe re- polished at the least.
i'd say leave it.

I agree leave it.

Of course for $150 or less you can probably find a Canon 50/1.8 which will be smaller and just as good a match for your P.

The only thing that should be done if there is a small chip out of the glass is to paint it black.

If there's a bump in the metal of the mount, on the flat mating surface, it should be filed off and focus checked. It's a very fussy lens about getting focus accurate.
