I realise that collapsable lenses are a big 'no' when using a Canon P which is a pity as I really like the elmar 5cm 3.5. Which Leitz lenses have people used on their Canon P

I've used -49 Summitar 50mm f/2. Collapsing was tight but doable. I think Elmar is OK. I don't have Elmar but I've used a FSU Elmar copy and don't recall any problems with it.

I would try first by opening the back, firing the shutter on "B", so it stays open, and then try to collapse the lens gently, so you can judge where it goes on the inside of the camera. That means of course you first mount the lens extended, not collapsed.

Regards,
Stefan.

At least on my Canon 7s, it's only the Elmar and Serenar 50/3.5 lenses that are trouble, as well as the Summar 50/2.0. The Summitar and Summicron 50/2.0 are no trouble at all, they can only collapse such that no locking tab is pointing up.

My Elmar rubs ever so lightly on the metal light baffle at the top. Never knew it was an issue until this thread. I've been using collapsible lenses on all my cameras (Leica, Canon, Hexar) and never knew about interference.
