I agree that the P is a wonderful, useful, trouble-free camera, but would add the L1 is pure beauty.

Nice Canon P trio raid!
When I joined RFF five years ago there were lots of Canon P enthusiasts here and it was not easy to find a good example in spite of the fact that about 87,000 were made. But I was vigilant and finally acquired one from a friend who had an extra in his collection.
Just like everyone says, it is a modern design in all aspects compared to Barnack style bottom loaders. My Leica II is now getting a well deserved rest....

I'm still sorry I sold my good one. I saw it again in the RFF classifieds, and wanted to buy it back but lacked funds at the time. I wonder who bought it - serial #747096. If it ever comes up again for sale ... 🙂

I acquired a very beautiful condition P a few months ago, only my second screw mount RF, the first being Fed 3. I have been searching for a lense at a good price but its not easy. My hope is to get the Canon 35mm 2.8 which you mentioned in an earlier post. I've bid for a couple on eBay but unsuccessful so far. What are my other options in a similiar price range?

By CV, do you mean Voigtlander? I wanted to go with the 35 mm because I have so many fixed lense rangefinders.

What a beautiful family of Canons, Raid. You are a lucky man.
Btw. I have a small set of reusable Canon V metal film cassettes which fit into the Canon P very nicely. Similar like Leica cassettes but even more refined IMO. If you ever encounter one of those get it even if you wouldn't load it with film. You'll be amazed how beautifully they are constructed.

I think mine was also purchased used in Japan. I don't know the Canon P situation in the USA now but I practically gave up my search by the time I left the USA almost 2 years ago....only to find one in Manila 😎
It's like a screw mount M Leica never made. The Canon P is in my camera bag loaded with TX400 paired with a Tower 3 with APX100. I enjoy both of them 😀

the P is a delight to behold; the 7 is a... well, a good shooter.
Either one makes the M awkward to use by comparison... and
as je2a3 noted, may retire your Barnacks.
