Canon P CLA

My Canon P works but no doubt it's long overdue for CLA service.
Is there someone who'll do a good job without charging me Leica prices?

There are several. I had Stephen Gandy’s repair tech CLA my Canon L-1. Did a great job. I'm sure he works on the P too.

"The Canon shutter is horizontal running and is made of coated stainless steel.* It's rare to find ones that don't have some crinkles in them. My shutter was capping at 1/1000 sec., so I sent it to Mark Hama in Georgia for a CLA. He returned it to me in 12 calendar days (including the 8 days it spent in the UPS trucks going there and back) fully restored. The shutter was apparently off because the 1st and 2nd shutter were travelling at different speeds. He cleaned them up, adjusted, and relubricated (CLA) everything and my P is back to new. He even polished my 50mm f/1.8 lens. I have been thrilled with his services and strongly recommend him. Let him know that I (Karen Nakamura) sent you."

I have had good experiences with Youxin Ye and Gus Lazzari. Gus is fantastic although his throughput is slow because of demand. Youxin is quite prompt. I also have experience with DAG and Sherry Krauter.....very good. However, I might also think that they would have Leica class charges.

Although unsolicited and immaterial to the P....a shout out to David Odess for his exemplary work and attitude....with regard to Hasselblad repairs.

Good to have another resource in Mark Hama.

For the expertise and attention to detail, I've found Don Goldberg hard to beat. His prices are also reasonable - hence he's always swamped with work. That's why it takes him time to get to your repair. Also, he'll release the camera back to you only when he feels it's good and ready. He doesn't like working to a schedule or timetable.

Gus Lazzari is pretty much the same way.

I've used both with success in the past.
