Canon P hot shoe too loose.

Hi,
Can anyone give me some idea on how to make the hot/cold shoe on my Canon P hold accessories more securely? The shoe is tight to the camera. It looks like there are two spring loaded 'skids' that hold things in place. The meter wobbles a bit and if I put a flash in the shoe it will work it's way out after a few exposures. Even the flash screw won't secure it. Any ideas most welcome.

The foot of some accessories can be manipulated by lightly bending to fit more tightly. Or, you can use a thin piece of card stock in the shoe to take up the slack
