I just sold my "P" for $549. Body only. That seems like a pretty high price from what I have been able to gather.

Are P prices starting to escalate?

Wow, that is a lot, congratulations.

I have not been watching the prices of P cameras, but in general I always say condition is king. I will have to guess that your camera is in very very nice shape.

I recently picked up a like new Canon P for $300 with a full case. I had it CLA'd for $150. At the last camera show, I had seen one for sale with a 50mm and 100, full case and a meter for $400! I didn't check the condition, though fearing that I might buy it. 🙂

As to the P escalating in price, I have no clue. The only thing i can say is: Canon P's are BEAUTIFUL and functional cameras!

that seems a bit high to me - but there has been a surge in interest in them recently. I bought mine for a touch under $400, but trying to get it a parter, I've been consistently outbid anytime I tried to get near that mark again.

Joe, what kind of partner are you looking for?

Yes, the body was in extraordinary condition. It had been in a safe for the last 40-50 years.

IIIAs don't seem to gather much and I have one in similar condition as the P.

I say an IVSB with everything including 2 lens etc for $675. That seemed cheap to me.

I just bought one for $300 from an online US dealer--same as I paid two years ago. Both are Exc.

Futhermore, I think it's the best bargain on the RF market--good but not great VF, well built, easy to operate/ load and reliable as hell. It's no wonder they sold so many.

I've noticed them drifting up lately too. I think one of the reasons is all the hype about them generated here. It's a shame really, to see these very good and rugged user cameras being transformed into high-priced collectibles.

P going collectable

P going collectable

I have given some thought to what was said about the P being snapped up by collectors. The P I sold was from a relative's collection. I sold it to another collector in France.

The moral conundrum I find myself is that I now have quite a lot of very fine gear. Much more than I could ever use. Additionally, as executor of the estate, I have to seek a fair value (who knows what that is?) for the benefit of the chldren of the deceased.

It would be nice to get this gear into the hands of the right folks.

Any ideas?

You people are really helpful and I appreciated it.

to determine approximate values - I personally use KEH's prices as a guide. That should put be at the high/fair end of the market provided I am honest about he quality rating of the gear.

You could always post it in the classifieds here - but I don't think many would give you much warning if your prices were low. 😉

you are probably right

you are probably right

I think you are correct about pricing here. However, If I haven't researched the subject well, I deserve what happens.

I just don't want to be rediculous. Keh is pretty good. They have some of the same gear that I am selling. Actually I would wonder if folks wouldn't laugh me out of here if I asked the same as Keh.

I would offer a money back guarantee. I don't want people to feel gyped in any way.

Well, using KEH pricing or finished ebay auction pricing as a guide is a good start. As with anything, prices from KEH or any retailer will be slightly higher than you would expect from a private sale. That said, you have a "job" to do, which you are obviously taking seriously. That should be commended. I think if I were in your position I would try to decide what is fair based on these guides, offer the items, be a little flexible, but if they don't sell for what I think is a fair price I would put them on ebay to let the market decide.

If you got a Canon 50/ 1.5 in Exc. condition, I'd like to buy it.

Bill,
I don't have one of those. These are the ones that we had some time back. 25/3.5, 100/2, 35/1.8, 28/2.8, 50/1.8, 50/.095.

We still have the 50/1.2 (lots of interest there) 35/2.8, 135/3.5, 50/1.4 for Pellix, same for A-1. Lots of accessories. flashes, meters, 2 auto-ups, cases etc.

If there some little item you might need, I might have it. I actually gave two meters to a guy from RFF. I was not sure they worked. I think they did. They weren't worth much so I just shipped them to him. I have a bunch of pics of items. Virtually all is Canon.
