Canon P shutter wrinkle

I don't have one but the Canon P are surely beautiful. I saw one on KEH for 299. Assuming it's a great deal, but the description say it has a wrinkle shutter. so what does that mean and does it affect the picture quality?

I probably don't have the money to buy one for now, but I'd just like to know.

Most metal shutters on Canon RFs are found with wrinkles, AFAIK I haven't heard of anybody having problems with them. Both my Canons have moderate wrinkles in the shutter curtains and they seem do do just fine with them.

Also, a prewrinkled curtain will save you from feeling bad if you ever put a wrinkle on them yourself 🙂

From the photos I've seen online of other wrinkled curtains on Canons, mine is worse, and I don't have a problem at all. Before I ran a roll of film through it, I sent it to Essex Camera for a CLA, and Ian told me off the bat that it was pretty wrinkled but no light gets through.

Yeah, I'd noticed that deal too. They seem to have some pretty decent prices for Canon RFs. I'm only basing that on the occasional auction that I look at on the bay. It's such a shame KEH don't operate as a regular store. Otherwise I could walk in and inspect dozens of things considering they are situated about 7 miles from me. I might even buy more than I otherwise would. But don't worry Alan, I won't steal that P from you. I've not intention of buying it in the near future.

I don't think I can afford it for a long time, since i'm only working part time and have to go to school. I'm still waiting for my Canonet QL17 G3 to arrive though. It's driving me crazy because it takes so long. I might get it if I manage to save the money for that and the lens. But it's going to take me a while.
