Hi everyone.

I have a Canon P that is generally working wonderfully. The one issue I'm having with it is that when rewinding the film there's a lot of resistance and the film ends up quite curly and hard to load onto reels for development. I made sure to set the dial around the shutter release to the rewind setting. Opening the back of the camera it looks like the sprocket on the camera resists being moved.

I guess that's a general lubrication issue? Is there any straightforward things to try before just sending the camera off to a proper CLA? I got the camera in a pretty good state but that was 2-3 years ago, so maybe it's time for a thorough cleanup.

There's a chance you just need to tighten the screws on the dial around the shutter release, if they're loose, you might not have actually activated rewind mode.

Hm, there's this small clamp under the sprocket wheel that moves out of the way if you turn the rewind dial, so it at least looks like it should move freely.
