I'd like to make peace with my Canon P camera, but I'm having some difficulty.

Unfortunately I am a left eye viewer with an average size nose, and I can't get
my eye close enough to see the entire finder AND centered to avoid flareout.

Is anyone out there in the same boat? How do you cope with these problems?

Has anyone figured out a way to add a diopter? Then I could use my right eye...

TIA,
Chris

on a Canon P finder with too much flare and internal reflections, I resorted to using external viewfinders in the cold shoe.
I just use the camera VF for the RF focusing.

Canon actually did offer diopter lenses for the P. You'd remove the little screw in the black eyepiece surround and it could be removed; they offered replacements with various diopter strengths. Lots of luck finding one now, although presumably they must exist...

...failing that -- it may sound frivolous, and would look goofy, but you could try holding the camera upside-down. This would solve the nose-interference problem and let you get your eye centered perfectly behind the eyepiece. You'd have to release and wind with your left thumb, but it might be worth trying...

You could turn the camera upside down.

Like Jimi Hendrix....

I'm left-handed/ left-eyed and second the comment above. Just make sure you secure the external VF some way or you'll lose it!!!!!!!!

I've been thinking about a class-action lawsuit under USA/ ADA to sue all the world's mfg. to force them to make left-handed products. Want to join me?
