Hi everyone,

I picked up another QL 17 at the local thrift (the "new" QL, but not the GIII). It is in great condition except, when I try and use the Canon D flash, the meter jumps around as I move the focus ring, and then goes dead. The meter works fine without the flash, and the flash works fine on my other QL 17. I assume that there is a short in the flash circuit. Has any one out there ever tried to repair this problem? I assume it's not an easy fix.

Happy Holidays!

Hi,
It sounds like dirty contacts on the lens ring. Inside of the front is a resistor ring which works to give the "auto" flash fuction. You need to take apart the front of the lens and clean the ring.
