Good morning all,
I purchased a GIII a few months back and have been very pleased so far. Went with me on my honeymoon and I was PLEASANTLY surprised how nice the photos came back. Particularly lovely was the way it rendered trees and textures. Leaves were beautifully soft and you could really see a smoothness to the textures in the photos.
Now, on to my problem. The vf/rf patch was a little hazy when I got it, so using the photos someone has posted here walking you through the process, with much fear and hesitation, I attempted to clean it myself. Success! It was beautiful. However, the only problem is that ever since, the shutter release has been a little finicky. For one, it really jiggles quite a bit, whereas is was firm in place before. Secondly, and most irritating, everything works fine while I taking photos, but if I set the camera down and pick it back up the next day, the shutter doesn't want to fire. I keep at it, and after a few tries, all is well; one wasted frame.
What did I do and how do I fix it???

Can't place it. Those are on the top plate? The back of it?

Thanks a lot for the tip. I'll check it out. Hopefully it's minor; if not, I think I can live with wasting a couple frames per roll.

One other thing I have found on these cameras is that they can be very sensitive to which way round you replace the release fork (the metal piece directly under the plastic release button). On two of mine they are slightly assymetrical and putting them the wrong way around definitely affects how the release works.
Just a thought.

I'll have to check that out as well. Last night I took off the top; those two pieces Greyhoundman mentioned were still in place. Of course, now I can't get the shutter to fire at all! I'll go back tonight and try flipping the fork. HOPEFULLY that will at least get it back to its last state. Otherwise, anyone have pictures and/or directions on how fix the sticky shutter problem? I'm a little nervous about messing it up altogether, but it's such a lovely lens!
