Canon RF question

On the VF end of my L1 (and other models I presume) there is a "hole" for a plug-- maybe for the flash cord? My question is was there originally a rubber or plastic plug to cover this "hole"? Can you buy one of these anywhere as an aftermarket accessory?

Don't know originally, but as I've just recieved the rare metal flash coupler/ bracket in the mail - so was actually pulling the wee plastic plug out of my VI-L. I use the Canon A-series camera flash terminal plug - usually some available on eBay. I'm sure generic ones from any brand of camera will work, but as I'm a Canon man .... Here's a view of one on the camera
