I have the f3.5 35mm Serenar, it is fine but prone to hazing. I have to clean often. The lens is fine; sharp, compact and very well made. So I would think the newer version would be fine and better.
I have an f3.2 version, appears single coated. I don't use it much because I have more modern glass now, but I did like the Canon for B&W film and for its tiny size.
