I have a Canon TX camera and have not been able to get it to advance the film. I move the setting from the lock position, but the camera still acts as if it is locked. Any ideas as to the problem? Thanks.

Haven't looked at my TX in years, but I don't remember any "lock position" on the camera. Open the back, make sure there's no film in the camera, and try the film advance. If it still doesn't work, I think it needs to be sent in for repair.

I'm sorry, but it is an AT-1, not TX. I am not very knowledgeable about these. When I push the lever to the Lock position, the shutter release will not depress. When I move the lever to the other positions, the release will depress, but nothing happens. The film advance lever acts as if it is locked when lever is in all positions.

When the shutter is released, does that mean that the inner piece that flips up when release is depressed is in the down position? I apologize for my ignorance. If pics would help, I can post. Thanks.

The AT-1 is battery powered. If the battery is dead, and the film has already been advanced, the camera won’t fire and will seem locked up. Check your battery or install a new one.

Is there a good battery in the camera? The AT-1 requires a functional battery.
