I was wondering if anyone has any information about this camera? I have heard a lot about the P and 7, but very little about this model. Is it a nice camera to shoot with. Is is good quality? So many questions, so little answers.

Hi,
I use a VI-L which I prefer to the P and the 7 because of the variable finder rather than the variable framelines. I sold a 7 because of this. On the other hand I also sold a VI-T which was the model after because I couldn't get on with the bottom wind. The only difference between the 5 and 6 series is that the 5 series has a 2 part speed dial and the 6 has a non rotating single speed. If you can get on with the bottom wind, it is a great camera IMHO with a better finder than the P and 7 albeit it doesn't have all the framelines.

I just bought a VT which I think is a pretty handsome camera. There are minor differences between the regular VT and the Deluxe, the Deluxe has metal shutter curtains being the biggest. I just recently got it so I don't have a lot of user comments about it yet. It is a bigger camera than my Leica M3 if that means anything to you. Oh, the V series cameras also have the variable magnification viewfinder that Kim mentioned about the VI Series. I agree, it is a very nice feature.

I bought a VT deluxe some time ago and found it to be an extremely fun camera to use. I loved the bottom winder.

Unfortunately the rangefinder patch in my camera dimmed out to pretty much nothing and I am still procrastinating about sending it in for repair.

Got some lenses and stuff for it as well that can be seen..here: http://www.pbase.com/rsilfverberg/canon_vt_deluxe

My VT when it was still kinda healthy:

Rich, great photos. I aquired one reciently for the lens, I hope I don't like it too much, b/c I cannot really afford to keep the body too.

I've used a VT Deluxe for a couple of years and find it to be very well built, easy to focus and otherwise use. The trigger wind takes some getting used to, but it's speed can be useful in certain situations. For most shooting the wind knob is adequate.

I just got it in the mail this morning. It seems really cool. The one I got is in great shape. It looks like it's never been used. If I decide to sell it, the person buying it will get an excellant body.

I really really want to keep it. I have been fondling it for about an hour. If I cannot raise the funds to justify keeping it, I will contact you.
